Terms of Service and Disclaimer

Effective October 20, 2026

1. In an emergency, call 911 first

If anyone is hurt, in danger, or having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number now. Do not rely on this app.

The KOR Field Guide is not an emergency service. It does not contact 911, dispatchers, or anyone else for you. It may not work when you need it: during a disaster, your phone, internet, or our servers may be down.

These Terms of Service and Disclaimer (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and KOR Company LLC, doing business as KOR Instincts Co. (“KOR Instincts,” “we,” “us”). By using the KOR Field Guide (the “App”), or by starting a free trial or subscription, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Information only, not medical or professional advice

Everything in the App is for educational and informational purposes only. It is general educational information about survival skills and emergency preparedness. It is not medical, legal, safety, or other professional advice.

3. AI-generated answers can be wrong

Answers in Ask the Field Guide and plans from the Plan Builder are written by artificial intelligence (AI). A person does not review them before you see them.

To generate answers and plans, your questions and Plan Builder answers are sent to our AI provider. Do not enter information you do not want processed this way, such as full names, exact addresses, or detailed medical records. See our Privacy Policy for details.

4. Emergency plans and emergency steps

Plans. A plan from the Plan Builder is a starting point based on what you tell us. It cannot know your home, your area’s hazards, local evacuation orders, or your family’s full medical needs. Review it, adjust it with your household, practice it, and follow local officials during a real event. We do not guarantee that any plan will keep anyone safe.

Emergency steps. For medical emergencies, the App tells you to call 911 and does not give first aid or treatment steps. For non-medical emergencies such as fire, gas leaks, or evacuation, the App may show short general safety steps. These are general and brief, and they are not a substitute for a 911 dispatcher, trained responders, or official instructions. The App may fail to show its 911 prompt or these safety steps, or show them when they do not apply.

Alerts and outside services. The App may point you to outside services such as the FEMA app or your phone’s built-in emergency alerts. KOR Instincts does not send, run, or control those alerts and is not responsible for whether they arrive.

4A. Plant ID (Beta)

Plant ID is a Beta feature. A computer model guesses a plant from your photo. It makes mistakes. A result is not proof that a plant is safe to touch or eat.

KOR Instincts is not a biologist, botanist, doctor, or plant expert. We do not recommend eating wild plants. Edibility text, including the Universal Edibility Test, is shown only as what survival manuals say, for reference. It is not our permission to eat any plant. Use it only in a true survival emergency when no other food exists. Some plants, such as water hemlock and death camas, can kill with one small bite.

You are responsible for knowing each plant and its effects, and you take on all risk of touching, tasting, or eating a plant. Get guidance from a qualified professional before eating any plant. If someone is poisoned or bitten, call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. We do not respond to emergencies or give medical advice.

After every scan you tap an acknowledgment before the result shows. Sections 10, 11, and 12 (your own risk, limits on our liability, and arbitration) apply to Plant ID. All sales are final.

5. Who can use the App

6. Free trial, subscription, and cancellation

Automatic renewal. New subscribers get a 3-day free trial. You enter a payment card to start it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged $15.00 per month, plus any applicable tax, and the charge repeats every month until you cancel.

7. Rules for using the App

You agree not to:

We may suspend or end your access if you break these rules.

The App links to websites and apps we do not own or control, such as FEMA, Ready.gov, the American Red Cross, and the National Weather Service. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or accuracy, and linking to them does not mean they endorse us.

Some answers may suggest related products from the KOR Instincts shop. These are our own products and we earn money when you buy them. Purchases are governed by the shop’s own terms (for example, Etsy’s). Products are sold for general preparedness and are not a substitute for training or emergency care.

9. Ownership

The App, its design, the KOR Instincts name and logo, the pre-written emergency steps, the Prep Library, and other original content belong to KOR Instincts. Government material in the App, such as FEMA and CDC guidance, stays in the public domain.

You may use the App and print or share your own emergency plan with your household and anyone involved in your plan. You may not copy or sell the App or its content otherwise without our written permission.

You keep ownership of what you type into the App. You give us permission to process it to run the App, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Copyright and takedown requests. The App uses public domain government material, content we own, and material used with permission. If you believe something in the App uses your copyrighted work without permission, email admin@korinstincts.com with the work, where it appears in the App, and your contact information. We will review every request and remove material that should not be there.

10. No guarantees, and your own risk

THE APP AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, KOR INSTINCTS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not promise that the App will be accurate, complete, current, safe, error-free, or available at any particular time, including during an emergency or disaster.

Assumption of risk. Survival, first aid, and emergency activities are dangerous. You understand that acting on any information in the App, including emergency steps and plans, can lead to injury, illness, property damage, or death. You choose to use the App and act on its content at your own risk.

Know your limits. The App gives general information, not training. Many skills in it, such as wound care, fire starting, water treatment, foraging, tool and firearm use, and land navigation, take hands-on practice to do safely. You alone are responsible for knowing your own skill level, physical condition, and limits, and for deciding whether you can safely do anything described in the App. KOR Instincts is not responsible for any injury, illness, death, or property damage caused by misusing, misreading, or misapplying any information in the App, by attempting a technique you are not trained or experienced enough to perform, or by ignoring instructions from emergency responders, doctors, or officials. If you are unsure you can do something safely, do not attempt it. Get trained help or call 911.

11. Limits on our liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS:

  1. KOR INSTINCTS, ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR LOST DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE APP OR ITS CONTENT.
  2. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

These limits apply whatever the legal theory, even if we were told the damage was possible. They do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

Your responsibility to us. If you misuse the App or break these Terms, and someone brings a claim against KOR Instincts because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and legal costs from that claim.

12. Disputes, arbitration, changes, and contact

12.1 Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, you agree to email admin@korinstincts.com with a description of the dispute and the relief you want, and to try in good faith to resolve it with us for 30 days. We agree to do the same before filing a claim against you.

12.2 Binding arbitration for claims of $5,000 or less. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, any dispute, claim, or controversy between you and KOR Instincts arising from or relating to these Terms or the App in which the total amount claimed is $5,000 or less (excluding attorneys’ fees and costs) will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, not in court, except that either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect, before a single arbitrator. Unless the arbitrator finds an in-person hearing necessary, arbitration will be decided on written submissions or by phone or video. Fees are paid as the AAA Consumer Rules require. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this Section 12.2. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could, but only to the individual party bringing the claim.

12.3 Claims over $5,000. Claims in which the total amount claimed exceeds $5,000 will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kitsap County, Washington, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there.

12.4 CLASS ACTION WAIVER. YOU AND KOR INSTINCTS EACH AGREE TO BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION, whether in arbitration or in court.

12.5 JURY TRIAL WAIVER. To the fullest extent permitted by law, YOU AND KOR INSTINCTS WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL for any claim decided in court.

12.6 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of the arbitration agreement in Section 12.2 by emailing admin@korinstincts.com with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out,” your name, and your account email within 30 days after you first accept these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms, including the class action waiver.

12.7 Severability. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must proceed in court under Section 12.3, not in arbitration.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 12.2.

Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. For important changes, we will also email subscribers at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the App after that, you accept the new Terms.

Other terms. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part right away, we have not waived it. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the App.
