Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice

1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy covers the KOR Field Guide at prepare.korinstincts.com (the "App"). The App is run by KOR Company LLC, doing business as KOR Instincts Co. ("KOR Instincts," "we," "us"). This Policy is part of our Terms of Service and Disclaimer. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name and email address when you start a trial or subscription.
- Questions and plan answers: what you type into Ask the Field Guide and the Emergency Plan Builder.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
- Plant ID photos and notes: a photo you scan and an optional note. We do not save them.
- Consent records: the date, time, and version of the Terms and this Policy you agreed to, and your marketing choice.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the time of each visit. Our hosting provider logs this for security and to keep the App running.
- Cookies and browser storage: see Section 8.
Information from others
- Stripe tells us whether your payment went through and your subscription status. Stripe handles your card. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Do not type sensitive details into the App, such as Social Security numbers, full medical records, exact home addresses, or information about other people without their permission. You do not need to share any of this to use the App.
3. How we use your information
- To run the App, answer your questions, and build your plans.
- To manage your trial, subscription, billing, and access.
- To send service emails, such as receipts, trial reminders, and notices about changes to our Terms or this Policy. You cannot opt out of these while you have an account.
- To send marketing emails about KOR Instincts products, courses, and updates, unless you opt out (see Section 5).
- To improve the App, fix problems, and learn what questions people ask most.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and trial misuse, and to keep the App secure.
- To follow the law, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights.
4. We never sell your personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it for targeted advertising on other companies' websites.
We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers who help us run the App and follow our instructions (listed in Section 6).
- Legal reasons: when the law, a court order, or a government request requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of you, us, or others.
- Business transfer: if KOR Instincts is sold, merged, or reorganized, your information may move to the new owner. This Policy will keep applying to it.
- With your permission: any other time you tell us to.
5. Your marketing choice (opt out anytime)
When you sign up, you are set to receive KOR Instincts marketing emails. You can opt out at any time by:
- unchecking the marketing box when you sign up,
- clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email, or
- emailing admin@korinstincts.com with "Opt out" in the subject line.
We process opt-out requests within 10 business days. Opting out stops marketing only. We still send service emails about your account.
6. Companies that help us run the App

These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us, under their own privacy and security terms. We may change providers over time and will update this list when we do.
7. AI processing
When you ask a question or build a plan, your text is sent to our AI provider to create a response. A person does not review answers before you see them. We may review saved questions to fix errors, improve answers, and see what topics people need most. We do not use your questions to identify you for advertising.
Plant ID sends your photo over an encrypted connection to an image model hosted on Hugging Face. It is not sent to any other AI service. If you type a note, we check it for emergency wording first. If it looks like an emergency, we show the 911 and Poison Control message and do not send the photo.
8. Cookie Notice
Cookies and browser storage are small files or entries saved on your device. We use them as follows:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the App from working. Our App does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because no industry standard exists for them. We do not track you across other websites.
9. How long we keep information
- Account and subscription records: while your account is open, then as long as needed for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
- Consent records: for the life of your account plus 7 years. We keep these even if you delete your account, because they prove what you agreed to.
- Questions and Plan Builder answers: as long as needed to run and improve the App, then deleted or stripped of details that identify you.
- Plant ID photos and notes: not saved. The result is held in memory for up to 10 minutes, then discarded. We log only the species guess and score.
- Marketing list: until you opt out. After that, we keep only your email on a do-not-contact list so we honor your choice.
- Server logs: for the period our hosting provider keeps them.
We may keep information longer if the law requires it, or to handle a dispute, claim, or investigation.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you,
- correct information that is wrong,
- delete your information, except records we must keep (see Section 9), and
- stop sending you marketing emails.
Email admin@korinstincts.com from the address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity first. We respond within 45 days, or sooner where the law requires. Depending on your state, you may have more rights under your state's law. We will honor them as required. We will not treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
Deleting your information does not cancel your subscription. Cancel from the "Manage or cancel your subscription" link in the App footer.
11. Health and safety information
The App covers first aid and emergency topics. It is not a medical service and is not covered by HIPAA. If you choose to type health details into a question, we use them only to answer that question and run the App. We do not sell them, and we do not use them for advertising. Keep health details general. In an emergency, call 911.
12. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), payment processing through Stripe, and limited access to our records. No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, lost, or changed without permission. You use the App at your own risk. Keep your email account secure, because we use it to identify you. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
13. Children
The App is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and minors may not start a trial or subscription. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
14. Users outside the United States
The App is intended for people in the United States. Our providers store and process information in the United States. If you use the App from another country, you understand your information will be handled under US law.
15. Disputes
Any dispute about this Policy or your information is handled under the dispute terms in our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. For important changes, we will email subscribers at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the App after that, you accept the updated Policy.
